IL NOSTRO PARCO (OUR PARK)

We knew that this week would be busy back in the park. The conduit has been there for a while, the trenches were dug last week, and on Thursday the guys from Enel, the electric company, came out to have a look. They told us they'd be back on Monday to do the necessary wiring for the lights.

True to their word (!) they were here on Monday, and the entire park was bustling with activity. Men were raking up debris, hauling away rocks, setting benches in place, shoveling gravel....

Art had been told that all of the old, woody shrubs would be removed, but based on what I was seeing, I had my doubts. Today the men confirmed what I thought...the shrubs are staying, and gravel is being put down on the pathways in between. They've even agreed, thanks to Armando's urging, to put gravel down behind our house.

Armando told Art that the reason for so much activity was that the inaguration of the park was to take place this week! Originally we'd heard that there would be a dedication ceremony in Ocotber. Sure enough, we mentioned to Rosalba, Adamo's sister that there would be a ceremony on Friday evening and she said yes, she'd seen the notice in the commune. I walked up to the commune and sure enough, there it was.... So Friday night, be there or be square! Porchetta will be served, I'm sure speeches will be given, and we'll be there, camera in hand, to document the whole thing!
