ART'S INCISION

Here's the incision the day after surgery:

Art's scar Apr 2 2009

This was a total hip replacement done through the front (anterior) by Dr Jonathan Yerasimides at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville KY.

Hello Barb,

Your comments on Art's first hip surgery, i.e. your enthusiasm for the 'new, less-invasive, faster recovery' procedure, are fuelling my curiosity ! Why was ( what you described as ) the 'old-fashioned' method chosen this time ?

Wishing Art a fast recovery.

Huh??? This surgery, just like the previous one, was done using the new, improved, less-invasive, quicker-recovery, anterior (frontal) method. What made you think the 'old fashioned' method was used???

The ONLY reason I could EVER imagine anyone using that old method would be because their doctor wasn't trained in the new procedure - and in that case I'd recommend finding a new doctor!

Just had a THR myself (right hip) and found your the image of your incision via a Google search - we could be twins!

Hope you have a speedy recovery, and get many good years from your new hip!

Sean
