THE NEXT ADVENTURE!
There would have been a time when retiring to Florida would have seemed rather boring, but we've decided it will be our next adventure! In addition to freeing up the money that's now tied up in the equity of our home so that we can travel more, we'll also be returning to the state where Art grew up. When we first married, over 25 years ago, we talked about when and where we'd retire, and naturally Florida was part of that conversation. And then life happened, and we fell in love with Italy....and you know the rest of that story! Once we moved back to the states we thought long and hard about where to settle, and because of central location, reasonable cost of living, family in the area AND knowing our way around, we finally decided on Louisville, Florida just wasn't quite right for us then, but now, after two brutal winters in a row Art is ready to head south and I'm happy to oblige!
We put the "For Sale" sign in our yard this afternoon and although we're in no rush, we don't expect it'll take long to sell. Here's the link to the photos on FLICKR .

Hi Barb,
I have been following your blog for along time and enjoy your adventures. We moved from Florida to Italy , the Abruzzo, and lived there for four years. Before moving back to the states we explored states that did not have severe winters and decided on southern Nevada . The winters here beautiful, I think better than Florida. For three months in the summer it is very hot but so is Florida . Have you considered southern Nevada? Good Luck with your next adventure, we are still trying to figure our next adventure.
Thanks for your input - how kind of you to take the time! Right now we want to stay east of the Mississippi in order to make flights to Europe a little shorter - and easier. We're going to make a few test trips, and do plan to rent an apt for a few months before making a final decision. Who knows where we'll end up?
I love your blog and wish you would post more frequently. Read it all from the beginning. Please keep us all up to date on your adventures. We are former Michiganders now living in Indianapolis and were considering moving to KY..... but mostly bewildered......going to retire soon and are searching. Will keep an eye on your progress and expertise.
The extra five hours of travel from here to Europe can be brutal. Good luck and keep posting.

Janet, that's exactly what we thought! Maywine, I'm not sure how much expertise we have, but once you reach a certain age it's now or never!
